As a baby, my sister and I were always powdered all over after baths. Somehow along the way I kinda forwent that during my my after-shower routine and I want to get back into it. My mother on the other hand is a powder wearer to this day. I still see it peaking over the top of her night gown on her chest an shoulders.
After doing a bit of researching here are some reasons and uses that people find for using body powder:
- On their manly/womanly bits or underwear to help keep them cool and dry all day (only non-talc powders)
- On their feet and inside socks to help with moisture
- Under arms to keep dry and combat odor
- Helps comfort when in high temperatures and summer months
- Helps clothes glide on smoother
- For an all around smooth and luxurious feeling
What do you guys think? My question today is: Do you use powder after a shower or just body creams? Scented or Unscented? I want to know! :)

I used to love powder! But havent used it in so long. I stick to body creams and bath oils, scented. My man isn't feeling the ashy look of powder lol. Guess it smells good but doesn't look so hot.
ReplyDeletethis is like a filipino thing when i was growing up. I was powdered when I was younger after a bath/shower. I dont remember what it did to me but it supposedly kept the body cool. Its very hot in the philippines.
ReplyDeleteMy grandma does the powder thing. When i was little and would visit her, she would powder me too..lol. But now I just stick to lotion. I use Vaseline Coco Butter lotion. I dont think lotions and powder would mix well..
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a lil girl, I knew my mom or my nanny would always put powder on me. Now that I am older and tend to myself alone in the bath area, I stick to lotion after a refreshing shower. I use Revlon Aquamarine for the much needed moisturization. Whatever scented lotion put on top of the moisturizing lotion entirely depends on where I am headed after the shower or what I am planning to do.
ReplyDeleteMy mom also used to powder us when we were little now i have totaly forgotten about it!
ReplyDeleteI dont but when I was a kid my mom used to put powder on me too hehe
ReplyDeleteSometimes I use it, but I prefer body lotions because I think they moisture more my skin. :) Body powder is very handy for slipping in that extra tight skinny jeans or pair of boots.
ReplyDeleteI stopped using powder after I was a child and my mom didn't bathe me anymore, but I got back into it when I was in like the 8th grade but I got back out of the habit when i got to high school. I never knew why ppl used powder but you sure helped me out a little. I now just use shea butter or cocoa butter on my skin after a shower.....Hot blog too... I'm following.... follow me fabuloushoodchick.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear some of your input on some of my blog entries
Hope to hear from you soon

I've never even heard of body powder after showers until now, so I don't do it, it's just lotions for me.
ReplyDeleteno way! powder makes me dry and flakey, i use vasiline cocoa butter oil gel
ReplyDeletei didn't even know body powder would have so many uses!
ReplyDeleteYes I use powder religiously, all day everyday! I actually heard that using deodorants with antiperspirants can cause cancer, so if I'm not going anywhere that isn't too hot, then I forgo deodorant. Don't think I'm nasty, cause I don't really get that smelly, lol.
ReplyDeleteI didn't start using powder (since babyhood) until I worked at an amusement park during the summers. My thighs would chafe crazy style with those stupid mandatory shorts. The only thing that would make it feel better was the powder. Still use it if I'm wearing skirts. :)
