Lime Crime Magic Dust Review

Xenia from Lime Crime Makeup is such a doll. She sent me these 5 eye dusts to review and I love them. I think I shall wear them tomorrow too. Even though I don't think I'm going anywhere haha. The five shades I received are Pompadour, Elixer, Enchant, Siren, and Cleopatra. Pompadour is my favorite! I took a few pictures with my crappy camera using Enchant, Elixer, and Cleopatra. Elixer is not an eye dust though, its an eye glitter.

The Claim:

The Good:
Well she wasn't lying! Lime Crime pigments are highly pigmented and go on super smooth. These babies are powdery soft. The consistency reminds me a lot of Motives shadows. A little goes a long way. They're highly blendable and I had fun deciding which colors to put together. They come in a variety of shades and the packaging is super cute.

The Bad:

My only problem with these is that they can get a little messy. But that is to be expected with loose powder. So if you're a clumsy gal, be careful. You don't want to waste these.


Price: At twelve dollars a pop, it is a bit expensive for a 5 gram jar of product, but a little definitely goes a long way and they last quite a while. The website says each jar should yeild about 75 applications. And that's basically what we pay for an eyeshadow, so its not that bad.


Overall:

I'd have to say that I really love these eye dusts. The color selections alone are wonderful. They turn out as pigmented as you expect it to be and they're very easy to blend. I'll be getting a few more of these bright babies.

But I do want to address something to everyone. I was shocked when I saw the number of votes some of the contestants were getting. So much so, that I had to personally email two of the contestants to ask them what was going on and how were they getting so many votes. I made sure when setting up the poll, that you could not vote twice. But both of their responses were along the lines of they just got family and friends to vote and they promoted themselves on their blogs, facebooks, myspaces, etc, and asked their friends to promote also. Which is not against the rules. I expected everyone to some degree to let people know they were finalists and for people to vote. I only think the problem that some people are having is that the numbers are so high. I mean they are in the hundreds; I was suspicious also. But when you think about it it doesn't seem that off. You're in a contest, you tell your friends, they tell theirs. You tell your mom, she tells all her girlfriends and stuff just gets passed on. I know that I would tell my mom and friends to check me out and vote for me if I was a finalist in the contest.

I did make sure that you could not vote more than once. Some have said "well they can just change their IP address". Changing your IP address is no easy feat, and a very time consuming one at that. Also, when I heard this, I tried to test the voting. I cleared my browser and cookies and was still not able to vote twice. I sincerely doubt that people took so much thought and time to try and cheat the computer and vote twice let alone a hundred times.

Now I can see how this may seem a little unfair to some, and for that I truly apologize, I could not have predicted this sort of outcome. But I can also see how it would be unfair to punish someone for getting too many votes. I only planned on having 4 or 5 finalists and then possibly deciding a winner, but it was too hard. There were so many great entries; I ended up with 9 finalists! So I decided a poll would be the best way and to let the public decide. And yes, public does include friends and family. In the future, I'll doubt I'll use polling to determine future winners to avoid situations such as this.
